The goal of every opportunity with horses at Rafter 7C Ranch is to develop true horsemanship skills in riders and handlers as well as to build character and work ethic as riders grow in a rich relationship with the horses through both arena and ranch skill-building activities.

Instructor

  • Rafter 7C Ranch horseback riding lessons are taught by Jennifer Cruise, a graduate of the University of Findlay with a Western Equestrian Studies degree and 35 years of instructor experience, and Katie Criuse, who has recently come on board with the family business and enjoys working with a variety of skill levels.

Lessons:

  • While private lessons are available, group lessons are encouraged as riders benefit from being able to learn from each other. Lesson groups are no more than 4-5 riders at a time allowing for maximum personal attention to challenge and improve each rider.

Where:

  • All riding lessons are held at the Rafter 7C Ranch Facilities, which include a 120x250 competition-size outdoor arena, a 60x120 covered arena, a brand new outdoor obstacle course, and many miles of trails to enjoy.

Horses:

  • Students may bring their own horses, however a fine string of horses are available for students of various riding abilities to learn on. Our horses are not only used for riding lessons, but are also well-versed in working with cattle on our ranch and some have show experience in various show arenas. This experience offers riders a wealth of experience to glean from.
